Big challenges for the newly created post of Ombudsman for Children

In Ukraine children's rights are not high on the agenda and discrimination, abuse and orphanhood are common. As a result of the poor status awarded Ukraine by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, the improvement of the youngest citizens’ condition has become a priority, hence the appointment of Yurii PAVLENKO, Ukrainian president’s ombudsman for children
